Andrew “the Poopy Doo” Schwartz joined our pack on April 25th, 2019. Andrew was a street dog from Puerto Rico and estimated to be around 7 years old when we took him in. Andrew not only survived living on the streets, but also survived a hurricane. After a three month stay with our friends at the Animal Welfare Association, Andrew found his forever home. It took some time, but Andrew’s goofy, stubborn, loving, and snuggly personality slowly came out. Over the four years we had Andrew, he was the alpha of our pack, keeping his brother (Dylan) and sister (Zoey) in check. Sadly, due to a mass pressing on his intestines and bladder, and also some growths on his liver, we had to say goodbye to Andrew on March 11, 2023.
Although losing Andrew was one of the most difficult experiences we have been through, it confirmed that my purpose on this earth is to give a loving, happy, and patient home to more dogs like Andrew. Poopy Doo’s Animal Rescue is currently working to build a sanctuary for senior, abused, and/or overlooked dogs. Our sanctuary will provide a long-term and permanent living situation for the most vulnerable dogs in local shelters. Andrew’s legacy will live on for years to come through our sanctuary.
